ASPEN ALPHA            SCENT OF FRENCH LAVENDER + STRAWBERRIES

[ tagged ] nobody / open for interaction
her dark eyes wandered the forest as she calmly strolled through the trees, her petite snow white
body gliding over the forest floor. elisabethene often thought of her family during these walks,
usually missing them, but she knew that it was for the best that she left her old pack. her pink
tongue licked her maw for a second, aggravated by the dryness of the winder air.

<< female - five years - loner - open >>

Pain. That was all she could think of. The pain of sorely calloused paws against rough terrain, the pain of an empty stomach threatening to collapse in on itself, and the pain of wounds earned from unsuccessfully fending off other scavengers from a dead carcass she had found. The injuries themselves hadn't been too bad, but they had been dealt in numerous vital places, and towards a creature that had little fat to protect her body with, making them more severe than they should have been. Each time she moved, they burned like the merciless prodding of the Devil's trident, it's pointed tips red hot with the flames of Hell. At first, she would wince and suck air through her teeth with every step, but now, after traveling a weary mile away from the foul creatures (and her would-be meal), she had grown used to the pain, and had instead set her sights on finding her next meal.

The dark-furred rogue slunk through the new, unfamiliar forest with her head bowed and tongue lolling out, the energetic life in her eyes reduced to a dull glaze, as if she were entering the realm of death itself. She moved like a listless shadow across the woodland floor, her pawsteps just as heavy and laborious as her breath. True, some quiet voice in the back of her head was telling her to become more wary of her surroundings, lest she got attacked again because she wasn't watching where she was heading. In responce to the notion, she turned here ears in different directions, funneling in all noises and determining where they came from, but honestly, without food, she felt her senses were far duller, ergo useless. She huffed and gave up, not caring what happened. I just need food... She told herself, attempting to raise morale. Then I can think clearly and get back on track. Taking a deep breath (and feeling the dull throb of her still-healing wounds as she did so), she tried to clear all weak and desperate thoughts so she could preserve what little strength she had left and begin sniffing the area. Her black nose twitched back and forth as she further lowered it to the ground and began snuffling at the dirt, sifting through scents to try and find something edible.

Thankfully, as if the divinity above had decided it would be kind to her today, she did pick up the trail of a rabbit. It wasn't incredibly fresh, but it was fresh enough to suggest the creature was still alive and worth tracking. Unable to help herself, the end of her tail gave a gleeful wag, showing her clear excitement at the prospect of food. Granted, a mere rabbit wasn't enough to feed a full-grown, malunurished wolf, nor would it be easy to catch, given how fast and evasive those creatures were, but it was better than nothing, wasn't it? She instantly set herself on the trail and began to follow it, but no sooner than she had taken five steps did she smell another scent: a wolf pack marker. The rogue stopped, perking her ears and tensing her limbs, guard hairs risen as she took a moment to deeply inhale the scent and confirm. Yep, it was a scent marker alright. Her lips peeled back to reveal a disgusted scowl of yellowing fangs, an ugly snarl twisting her face and rumbling in her throat. She then looked up towards the tree canopy above, staring at the patches of blue, winter sky, and silently asked the gods above if they thought it was funny to mock her so. This behavior would probably strike many as odd and perhaps a bit insane, but when you've traveling alone for so long, sometimes you have no choice but to befriend an invisible entity, watching over your life. She hated packs. They were so strict, rigid, controlling! And selfish! Who were they to claim all the good hunting lands for themselves and leave loners like herself to gnaw on scrapes and rotting carrion?! If she hadn't been so hungry, perhaps she would turn around and avoid the possible scuffle, but her starvation made her disregard all logic, and only fueled her hatred for the prestigious pack mutts. Disregarding the scent marker, she defiantly continued on her way, determined on killing that rabbit and possibly devouring it right in front of the Alpha themself.
